Free File Transfer Without Installing an App

DirectlyDrop is a free browser tool for sending files between phones, tablets, and computers without creating an account. Enter a four-digit room code or scan the private QR link, confirm the other device, and send only after the recipient reviews the file offer.

When network conditions permit, data moves directly through a WebRTC data channel. If a direct path fails and a valid TURN service is configured, encrypted WebRTC traffic may be relayed. DirectlyDrop does not place file contents in a permanent download archive.

How does it work?

1. Pair the devices: Use the four-digit room code, QR code, or private share link shown on screen.

2. Choose the file: Wait for the expected remote device name, then queue up to three files. The recipient sees each name and size before accepting or rejecting it.

3. Verify completion: Follow progress, estimated speed, and remaining time. Keep both tabs open until both devices report completion.

File transfer methods

Transfer files from phone to computer, send files without an app, send files with a QR code, or prepare to send a large file online with task-specific guidance.

Limits and verification

Both devices must be online at the same time, and interrupted transfers cannot currently resume. Practical capacity depends on browser memory, free disk space, OPFS support, and network speed. Send a small test before a large transfer.
